Purpose
The whistleblowing policy of BDresearcherUK is designed to provide a safe and confidential mechanism for members to report any misconduct or unethical behaviour by other members. This policy ensures transparency, fairness, and accountability in addressing complaints while maintaining the integrity of the platform.
Reporting a Complaint
Members who wish to report misconduct should submit their complaint in writing via the designated reporting channel on the website. Complaints must include:
- A detailed description of the alleged misconduct.
- The name(s) of the individual(s) involved.
- Any supporting evidence or witnesses.
Whistleblowing Committee
Complaints will be reviewed by the Whistleblowing Committee, comprising three members:
- Chair: Responsible for leading the review process and ensuring impartiality.
- Two Members: Supporting the Chair in collecting evidence and reaching a fair decision.
Process
- Acknowledgement: The committee will acknowledge receipt of the complaint within three working days.
- Investigation: The committee will meet with both the complainant and the accused member to gather evidence and understand their perspectives.
- Decision: Within one month of receiving the complaint, the committee will issue a decision based on the evidence collected.
- Outcome: If the complaint is substantiated, the accused member will be banned from the platform for two years. The complainant will be informed of the decision.
Confidentiality
All complaints and proceedings will be handled with the utmost confidentiality. Information will only be shared with individuals directly involved in the investigation.
No Retaliation
Members who file complaints in good faith will be protected from any form of retaliation. Malicious or unfounded complaints may, however, result in disciplinary action. This policy is designed to uphold the highest standards of conduct within the BDresearcherUK community and to ensure a safe, supportive, and professional environment for all members.
